Mission Statement
To create a vibrant and expanding commercial environment that both supports and encourages economic strength within the project area for all businesses, stimulates quality retail development, creates employment, provides needed services to the community and contributes to the overall economic revitalization of the City of Gardena.
Purpose
The Rosecrans Revitalization Program is an ongoing program that was implemented by the City of Gardena in July 1999. The Rosecrans Corridor has long been recognized as a prime commercial area of the City. In order to increase the potential revenue, attract new business, and create additional employment opportunities for local residents, the City has embarked on a program of comprehensive revitalization of this important area. The overall intent of this project is to revitalize and stimulate new business development along the Corridor.
Underground Utility Construction Project
Earlier this year, Southern California Edison (SCE) issued a construction contract under Rule 20A for undergrounding project for Rosecrans Avenue between Vermont and Crenshaw. The project was postponed due to conflicts with some of the existing underground utilities. Since then, SCE has prepared new base maps and has completed the planning and evaluation for the Rule 20A undergrounding project. Staff has authorized SCE to move forward with the design phase of the project.
