Buying a Home/Keeping Your Home Resource Guide
Currently, the City of Gardena does not offer direct assistance to first-time homebuyers or for those owners who are experiencing difficulties with paying their mortgage. However, the City has created a resource guide that provides information for both buyers and current owners with help on applying for a new mortgage, refinancing an existing mortgage or modifying an existing mortgage.
Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program (Single Family Homes)
The City of Gardena offers up to $60,000 in City housing rehabilitation zero-interest loan assistance to low-income, owner-occupants residing within the City of Gardena. The applicant must own and occupy the home. Certain income and home value limitations apply.
Mobile Home Rehabilitation Program
The City of Gardena offers up to $20,000 in City housing rehabilitation loan assistance to low-income mobile home owner-occupants residing within the City of Gardena. The applicant must be the registered owner and occupy the home. Certain income and home value limitations apply.
Multi-Family Rehabilitation & Code Correction Program (MFRCCP)
The City of Gardena offers up to $8,000 in grants for the improvement of the exterior appearance of a multi-family rental property within the City of Gardena. The multi-family rental property must be between 5 and 7 units and 51% must be occupied by lower-income households at affordable rents. Additional program qualifications apply.
This is a State HOME Program funded under the office of Housing and Community Development.
